Josh grew up outside of Columbia, SC. He attended the University of South Carolina and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance. After a brief stint in wine sales, Josh moved to Hilton Head and entered into the construction field. In 2004, he started J Matthews Construction in an attempt to produce a great product for a reasonable cost. Josh currently lives in Bluffton with his wife Jen and their three sons.

The Foreman
Skip moved to the Lowcountry in 2012 from North Jackson, Ohio. He has been in the construction industry since he was a small boy. Skip is a fantastic asset to the team and can work on any aspect of a construction project. He is a constant fixture on all of our projects as the finishes start to be installed. Skip currently resides in Bluffton with his wife Mindy and their two children.

Everything from pre-purchase lot inspection, designer/architectural plans, ARB submissions, landscaping, and of course construction of the home. With multiple Hilton Head Area Home Builders Association Lighthouse Awards, we are a proven custom home builder completing residences with finishes that are superior to our competition.
Architectural Review Boards (ARB) submissions can be a daunting undertaking for someone who has never completed one before, but we are comfortable completing the process with every ARB in the Low Country. We are an approved contractor with several local funding companies and will be glad to help you submit for the necessary financing.

What We Do
At J. Matthews Construction, we have a portfolio of plans that we have already constructed that may suit your needs and allow you to break ground quicker. We also work directly with several designers/architects to help you design a plan that will fit your budget. We also work with some of the best interior designers in the state for those who may need a little help with selections or decorating.
Starting out in 2004 as solely a remodeling company, J Matthews Construction now only completes remodels when time warrants. Two sister companies, Hilton Head Remodeling and Sun City Kitchen and Bath take on projects such as kitchens, baths, whole-home remodels, and additions.
